Girls Night Out

Posted in Children, Creative, Family, Fun Shots at 10:48 am by Andrew

In the words of Cyndi Lauper, Girls Just Want To Have Fun! It doesn’t matter if they are two years old or ninety, girls seem to like to dress up. Especially in beautiful dresses and wearing a nice tiara. Come on now, tell me it’s not your dream:-)
Well, we had five girls get their dreams to come true with a little Girls Night Out party. Nothing like a couple of hours with plenty of dresses to try on and getting your own private fashion shoot. A definitely fun time for the girls and moms. Yes, the moms even got into the action with some prom dresses, though I believe those photos are for them and their daughters eyes only.
Anyone interested in a Girls Night Out party, please feel free to contact us for more information. We cater to all ages.

Spring Fever is Here!

Posted in Children, Creative, Engagement, Fun Shots, Hobbies, Senior Pictures, Weddings at 12:28 pm by Andrew

Wow, I know this is beginning to sound familiar, but time sure flies! Things have been a little crazy around here for so far this year. Between weddings, senior photos, helping models build their portfolios, maternity & newborn shoots, engagements, motorcycle and car shoots and swap meets, and having my business TheSteelToad.com placed on a race car and steins up at Old Hat Brewery, I have been trying to get caught up on the computer end of things. I know I said this last time, but I am going to do my best in keeping up on this blog. I actually do better at keeping up on Facebook with the two separate business pages. If you have not yet become a fan of the pages, go to ForeverAlwaysPhotography.com and click on Facebook. You can join there. You can also go to TheSteelToad.com and click on the link to the Facebook page on the homepage and join that fan page as well. That way you can keep up on all the latest happenings.
Any seniors still needing photos for this year 2010, I will be glad to work with you in getting things done quickly. Those who will be Seniors this coming year, I am already taking in students for the Ambassador programs. I already have a girl for Lawton and Mattawan, with a few others talking with their parents. Sign up quickly if you are interested. Only one girl and guy allowed from each school. Major, and I mean MAJOR discounts are given along with some really cool perks. Don’t wait too long to sign up.

God Bless,

Time change…time to stay on top

Posted in Children, Family at 5:43 pm by Andrew

It’s like a New Year’s resolution, a time for change. Anyone else feel like you have been at least an hour behind all year? Well, we are now on schedule, rolling the clocks back an hour this past weekend. I am going to use this as an excuse to start my own little resolution of staying on top of every aspect of my life a little more. From keeping the office a little more organized, to staying on top of this blog….I resolve to do better. Hopefully it will last longer than most New Year’s resolutions do:)

Things have been rather busy with Senior portraits and trying to squeeze in some great family portraits in these beautiful Fall colors. This past weekend took out some of the leaves, though there are plenty left to create some stunning family photos in time for Christmas. Give us a call if you like to get that family portrait done you keep putting off. Resolve to stay on top of these things as well.

God Bless,

Where did the time go?

Posted in Children, Creative, Family, Fun Shots, Hobbies, Senior Pictures at 10:05 pm by Andrew

Summer is almost over, and the kids are headed back to school next week. Where did the time go? This seems like a constant theme in my life. Summer was definitely fun, being my first summer home with the kids all day long! Some days seeming longer than others:) Last year I was putting in 60 hours or more each week at Stryker and coming home to work on photos. It was hard going to sleep at 9 or 10 in order to get up between 2-4am. I think I am closer to getting to bed at those times now.

This summer has had many photo sessions, from water ski events, to senior photos, to family portraits, to starting up another division of Forever Always Photography, LLC, The Steel Toad, that focuses on the automotive & cycle photography business. It has been a busy but fun ride. I thank God for providing so far.

I do have some slots open within the Senior Ambassador program for some of the schools in the area. If you are interested in finding out more information, please give me a call at 269-303.1806 or drop me a line at info@ForeverAlwaysPhotography.com.

Fun with the kids (plus a puppy)!

Posted in Children, Pets at 5:42 pm by Andrew

Two days ago we had a little bit of sunshine and leaves to rake. Yesterday, over ten inches of snow, not a bad first snowfall for Southwest Michigan. Today, the sun is shining, the snow is melting, and the sky is a brilliant blue. It is just gorgeous out….though a little cold still.

A little over a week ago I went to visit a client at their home, checking out possible shot locations and meeting with the two children I would be taking pictures of. We had a great time looking everything over, getting to know each other, and watching some football:) Today, I returned with a truck load of equipment and my great assistant, ready to have some fun. The kids did not disappoint us. With a little dancing, some great ideas for poses by the daughter, and a very cooperative puppy, we had a very fun and productive two hour shoot.

I am looking forward to working with them again this next Spring.

Mosquito Coast (Vineyard)

Posted in Children, Family at 7:53 pm by Andrew

What a beautiful day outside. It’s hard to believe that it is October 12th with the warm temps today. Tony, whom I took his senior pictures, was back for round two with his family, as they purchased a photo session I donated at our church’s auction we held last month. I guess the mosquitoes did not know that it was a closed set, for they all decided to join us. Case in point for why to carry OFF spray with oneself when doing outdoor photos.

We made our rounds between a friend’s vineyard outside of town, another friend’s camp he manages, and Miracle Camp, where I was Director for a few years. The trees were turning and everything was nice and green. We had to sample a few of the Concord grapes while we were there. Yes, these were the same ones you buy at WalMart under the name Spiech Farms.

Even though the mosquitoes decided to join us, we all enjoyed the afternoon, taking our time to get the photos we were seeking, along with a few others. My goal is for each photo session to be a memorable one, and I believe the client’s would say this is true. It is for that reason I only schedule one session a day with no regard to keeping track of the time. If the family wants to try out a few different locations, change clothes, or sit around and chat between shots, that’s fine with me. It is their day and I aim to help them sense that in the way I operate my business. We definitely had fun today.

God Bless,

What happen to the week?

Posted in Children, Senior Pictures at 1:03 pm by Andrew

Ever have one of those weeks that starts with Monday and goes straight to Thursday? What happen? I started to work on some photos, ran some errands that never stopped, and here it’s Thursday!

We did get a little rest in this past weekend with a trip up to Mackinaw City, though a five hour drive each way is not really what I call relaxing. I must say that I was a little apprehensive about the whole thing, staying in a cabin, with the possibility of no heat, in the cold North. I, wanting to stay warm, packed TWO portable heaters just in case. I guess I was worrying without cause, for the cabins had heaters, bathrooms and showers, and a little fridge and microwave. Not quite roughing it, though as rough as I care to go. If you ever go to Mackinaw City check out www.campmackinaw.com. They are great people and run a beautiful facility.

Before we left for Mackinaw I was trying to upload some new Senior photos to Pictage in order for the senior to view them over the weekend. Of course, nothing ever works when you are in a hurry, so needless to say I was unable to get them loaded. I came back and worked on them all Monday and Tuesday, battling it out with the MAC and the FTP software. Frustrated does not quite capture the mood I was in:) Ask my wife. Even the tech at Pictage was stumped. It is definitely best if you can blame the software or any other third party for your problems, but when I realized it was something I did, well that did not help. The tech could have at least sounded glad that I figured it out.

Oh well, they are calling for a beautiful weekend, which is going to be great with sessions lined up for some nice outdoor family photos. I will leave you with a few photos I have been working on for Nathan and Tony, along with a shot of my daughter in Mackinaw City.

God Bless and have a great weekend!

No Rain!

Posted in Children at 12:40 pm by Andrew

This morning was beautiful outside and our schedules agreed, so off to the park we went to take some pictures of little Tiara. She is such a cutie.

One thing I have learned from doing kids photos over time is to let them do their thing to start with. Let them get used to you and the camera, along with the reflectors and other equipment. Do not go into a shoot with limited time, for it may take a while for the right picture to come. How many of us feel comfortable with new people, let alone someone sticking a camera in your face and shining white screens at you from the side? Times that by four or five and it my come close to what these little ones feel.

With that in mind, we had fun on the swings and sliding boards, which I found out she really liked. So we graduated to the bigger slides and boy did she come alive. After awhile she was letting me pick her up and hand her back to mom at the top of the slide. That is when you move from stranger to friend.

Friends always get better picture opportunities.

Family Photos

Posted in Children, Family at 4:25 pm by Andrew

I have always found it interesting in life that a certain theory is true more than not. We have had friends in life that were builders, yet their house was always the last one to be finished. I have had friends that were landscapers, yet there lawn looked like the before picture in an ad. No matter the profession, family seems to come last more than not.

I took photos of my family this summer and just finished them around midnight last night. Yes, it has been awhile, and yes I just finished some of my nephew as well yesterday. I was talking to a friend this summer who said they had the same thing in their family, they were always the last to be taken care of. I guess it happens everywhere. They told me they starting paying the family member full price so as to be treated the same as any other customer. (NO I AM NOT WRITING THIS FOR MY FAMILY! DON’T WORRY, I WILL STILL TAKE CARE OF YOU ALL:)

Actually, I am using this theory as an excuse for why it took so long:) I hope you all enjoy the photos.

God Bless,
